It's a BOY!!

Drew and I have been counting down the days until we'd find out the baby's gender, and yesterday we finally had that ultrasound! The ultrasound technician first asked if we wanted to find out, and after we excitedly said "YES," she went on to show us every gender-neutral part of the baby there is! I mean, I was having to remind myself that the heart and brain probably deserve more attention anyway. Finally she got several clear shots from the bottom angle that clearly showed us IT'S A BOY! Drew and I are really excited!! The technician said everything she saw looks great, and the baby's size is appropriate for his due date. Now it's time to focus on clearing out a room to become the nursery and picking a name!!

4-Year Anniversary & 4 Months Pregnant

Today is our 4-year Anniversary, and we celebrated by treating the baby-to-be to an Angus Barn steak! I’m sure he or she loved it! I had a 16-week doctor’s appointment earlier today, which went well. It was a quick appointment though, so basically they just checked the heartbeat. The exciting news is that I don’t have to wait as long as I thought I would to find out the gender. Drew and I will be going for the anatomy ultrasound in just 2 weeks! So stay tuned to find out (on Oct 28) if we have a little boy or girl on the way! I’m still feeling great and am just beginning to notice a little stomach pudge.

We're pregnant!

Good news....Drew and I are expecting a baby! I am now 12 weeks along, so the first trimester is over. Luckily, I have been feeling great and haven't had any morning sickness at all (knock on wood). If it weren't for doctors telling me it's true, I wouldn't believe I'm really pregnant! Anyway, today I went for a 12-week appointment, where I heard the heartbeat for the 2nd time. Then, Drew met me at another office for an optional early screening ultrasound. This ultrasound was much more fun to watch than the first one because I could actually make out a baby shape. We could easily see the head and profile of the face (nasal cartilage and pouting lips), legs that were kinda folded in toward the stomach, and arms waving around and saluting. Drew and I are a little concerned because what the doctor identified as a hand looked an awful lot like a big foot to us, but hopefully we'll only end up with two of each. The doctor said the baby was being very cooperative, and he pointed out organs like the heart, stomach, and bladder. The heart was easy to spot because it was moving so fast it looked like it was going to pop out of the poor baby's chest! We're really excited and glad that things are looking good so far. March 30, 2010 is our estimated due date.

This is one of the ultrasound pictures. It didn't scan so well, but you can get the general idea.
